In Haiti, the Mennonite Central Committee is working with local communities and partners to plant
millions of trees in the areas that need them most. MCC started reforestation work in Haiti in the 80s
and the work has continued to this day: over the last five years, they have planted 2,368,964 trees,
including 393,933 fruit trees. Not only do families benefit from nutritious food and the income from fruit
and lumber sales, whole communities thrive as a result of healthier ecosystems.
Come to our Tree Talk to find out more about this fantastic project!
About the speaker: Fred Redekop was a pastor in the Mennonite Church for 30 years.  At present he is
the Church and Community Associate for Mennonite Central Committee. We are delighted that he can
join us for this special evening.
Neighbourwoods thanks our 2018-19 Tree Talk Sponsor, the Elora-Salem Horticultural Society, for their
